richard (dave lewis) is bored. once an athlete and bachelor living a carefree life, he is now but a former shadow of himself due to the loss of both his legs many years ago. he fills his time working as a suicide hot-line prevention operator, in hopes to regain a feeling of fulfillment by helping those who have reached rock bottom just like he once had. but even this has not brought him the desired drive he needs to feel like his life has purpose. every shift he convinces callers that they are needed in the world but yet his words come out empty. because deep down, richard feels like no one would miss him if he were gone. one night, he gets a call from a blunt woman named linda (gisella maria) asking for help. ready for the routine conversation, richard begins his usual spiel. but her voice soon takes on a desperation that richard is familiar with. when she pleads that she needs help to kill herself, richard decides to break protocol and meet her face to face. upon the arrival of her apartment, he discovers that they share a similar predicament. richard realizes that he can only be honest with her and they form an unexpected bond.
